WA Community Cricket Awards: Volunteer of the Year

Team Connect is proud to announce that Margie Oldfield, Chair and Founder, has been announced as Female Volunteer of the Year at this year’s Community Cricket Awards. A wonderful opportunity to to celebrate Team Connect and all the wonderful people that make this program possible.

WACA – Western Australian Cricket Association

Team Connect is delighted to announce that Zoe Dimech has been nominated in the WACA Volunteer of the Year Awards. Zoe, a psychologist at Belmont City College, took on the volunteer role as coach/manager of the Team Connect girls from Belmont City College.

The Belmont City College girls are playing for Ascot Eagles Junior Cricket Club in the 2018/19 Perth Scorchers Girls League season.

We are so proud that our very own Margie Oldfield has been selected as Cricket Australia’s Volunteer of the year for 2018. Margie is truly passionate in all that she does and it is great to see her work recognised.

Recognition for the work of Team Connect

What teachers say...

I had no idea that playing cricket could have such a positive effect on the girls involved in the program. It has been wonderful to see their level of commitment and engagement improve as they built stronger relationships with each other.

For the participants, we have seen improved relationships with staff and increased engagement with school due to a greater sense of belonging.

Our Student Services department feel very grateful that Team Connect selected our school to partner with. We have never been involved with a program like this.
