Coach and players

roles

We couldn’t do what we do at Team Connect without our army of volunteers. We have four volunteer roles: coach, umpire, scorer and team organiser. Here’s a short description of each:

coach

Coaching a team is a rewarding and valuable role. You can have a significant and positive impact on your players. Some cricket knowledge is useful but you do not need to be experienced. All training and equipment provided.

Time commitment = 3 hours on Saturday morning + 1.5 hours one afternoon a week for training.

umpire

Umpire a friendly, fun game of community cricket on Saturday morning. Some cricket knowledge is an advantage but not necessary. All training provided.

Time commitment = 3 hours on Saturday morning.

scorer

Score a friendly, fun game of community cricket on Saturday morning.

No experience necessary. All training and equipment provided.

Time commitment = 3 hours on Saturday morning.

organiser

This fun and rewarding role supports the players. It’s all about being the friendly face that brings the food, bandaids, ice, spare hairbands and whatever else it takes to keep the team ticking along. Our organisers are there to step-in to help whenever the girls need it. This is a unique role that offers the right volunteer, or volunteer couple, the opportunity to build positive and nurturing relationships with the girls.

Time commitment = 3 – 4 hours on Saturday morning.

faqs

We couldn’t do what we do at Team Connect without our army of volunteers. We need volunteers to score, umpire, bring morning tea, help out at training and cheer on the team.

Anyone can volunteer to help – whether or not you are connected to a player – and if you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. Just click here to get in touch.

Absolutely!

Team Connect is a community engagement program, not a cricketing program, so our primary need is for committed volunteers who are keen to see young people have fun with their friends.

We provide all the training and support you need to be able to perform your volunteer role and pay for any coaching or accreditations you may require.

The season runs for 15 weeks over the cricket season, between October and March, with a break over Christmas and New Year.

Time commitment varies depending on your role. Some volunteers help at training and others help at games.

Volunteers are required to make their own way to games or to travel on the bus with the team.

Our volunteers tell us they get a lot more out of volunteering with Team Connect than they ever expected they would.

Teamwork, personal development, socialization and fun: there’s no end to the benefits our volunteers experience.
